10 Months in Southeast Asia

Tiger Kingdom (คุ้มเสือ), Mae Rim

Tue April 22, 2014

Being able to see and touch tigers close up was an amazing experience. I even got to give this gentle giant a belly rub! It seemed like the tigers were happy and healthy and treated well by the handlers.

Ha Long Bay Canh Hung 09, Hanoi

Tue April 22, 2014

We took one of the cheap overnight cruises around Ha Long Bay. The boat was a little bit old, but it was quite nice for the price. The trip included kayaking, a visit to the fishing village, a “cooking lesson” (assembling spring rolls) and a visit to the surprising cave. It was good value for money and a really fun experience.

Angkor Wat Temple (អង្គរវត្ត), Angkor

Tue April 22, 2014

If you are visiting Angkor Wat, I would recommend renting a bike for your explorations. They only cost about $1 to rent for the day and it means you can explore the temples at your own pace. It’s cheaper than hiring a tuk tuk driver but you can cover more ground than if you were on foot. We had a fantastic day!

Beaufort

Tue April 22, 2014

We took a trip on the North Borneo Railway in Sabah. It was a little off the beaten track, but one of the most beautiful train journeys I have been on. If you have the chance, I would recommend the experience.
